PHILADELPHIA – Junior
Callan Fang threw 7.0 innings in the start in a game one that went to extra innings and hit a home run and a double at the plate in game two, but Harvard University baseball dropped a doubleheader to the University of Pennsylvania, 5-4 and 6-3, on Saturday afternoon at Tommy Lasorda Field at Meiklejohn Stadium.
In the first two Ivy League games of the season for both teams, the Crimson (0-15, 0-2 Ivy) battled the Quakers (7-9, 2-0 Ivy) into extra innings in game one before the hosts took a 5-4 decision in 10 innings in the opener and captured a 6-3 decision in the second contest.
In game one, junior Fang permitted just two runs over 7.0 innings on six hits and no walks with six strikeouts while junior

Truman Pauley tallied eight strikeouts over 4.2 innings in the start, and first-year left-hander

GAME 1: Penn 5, Harvard 4 (10 Innings)
Junior right-hander
Callan Fang allowed two runs over 7.0 innings in the start, and the Crimson tallied a season-high 13 hits, but Harvard fell to Penn, 5-4, in 10 innings in the Ivy League opener for both teams.
In a series opener that went to extra innings, the Crimson took a 2-0 lead in the third, 3-2 edge in the eighth, and 4-3 advantage in the 10
th before the Quakers plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the 10
th to take the decision.

- The Crimson took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third as Colasante hit a two-run single to right field to plate the game's first two runs.
- The Quakers pulled within 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth behind a double to center field.
- Penn knotted the score at 2-2 in the last of the seventh with a solo home run.
- Harvard re-gained a 3-2 edge in the top of the eighth as Giberti hit a ground ball to the left side that allowed Rickheim to come home.
- The hosts tied the game again at 3-3 in the bottom of the ninth behind a sacrifice fly.
- Giberti helped the Crimson re-take the lead in the top of the 10th as his single to first base allowed Rickheim to score again.
- Penn claimed the decision with a pair of runs in the bottom of the 10th with an RBI single to right field bringing home the deciding run.
GAME 2: Penn 6, Harvard 3

- The hosts moved the margin to 6-2 in the bottom of the eighth with two RBI singles.
- The Crimson trimmed the difference to 6-3 in the top of the ninth behind an RBI double to left center from Fang before the Quakers held on for the decision.
