NEWARK, NJ – Harvard men's volleyball (9-13, 5-6 EIVAA) fell to NJIT (13-12, 7-4 EIVA) in straight sets in New Jersey this evening.
How it Happened
Harvard took early single-point leads before NJIT pulled ahead with a 4-1 run. The two teams entered a back-and-forth affair, but the Crimson responded with a dominant 6-0 run to gain a 21-16 advantage. The Highlanders, however, regrouped and took the lead with their own 7-1 run to take over the lead at 23-22. Harvard would go on to score one more point as NJIT stole the opening set, 25-23.
The Highlanders carried their success into the second set, growing an early 5-1 advantage. Despite the Crimson's efforts the Highlanders would hold onto their lead for the entirety of the set, winning 25-20.
Another early set run would give NJIT the lead and the Highlanders would gain a lead of as many as seven, ultimately growing its lead and settling the match at 25-16.
Harvard Highlights
- Zach Berty reached double-digit kills with a team-high 10 on a .300 hitting percentage.
- Quinn Bishop set a new career-high with nine kills on a .200 hitting percentage.
