Flynn Tosses Complete Game Shutout, Softball Defeats Brown in Series Finale

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Behind a complete game shutout from junior pitcher Riley Flynn, Harvard softball took down Brown in the series finale at Soldiers Field, 3-0, as the Crimson improved to 9-6 in conference play this season.

Across all seven innings, Flynn was incredible in the circle, holding the Brown offense scoreless in her second complete game of the 2025 season. A native of Phoenix, Arizona, Flynn struck out two batters while only allowing six hits. With the shutout, Flynn lowers her season earned run average to 2.40, the best mark on the Crimson.

At the plate, first-year catcher Quinn Salazar-Stewart made the difference, driving in two runs in the second inning with a double. Senior infielder Maya Douglas added to Harvard's lead in the third with another RBI-double.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
After a scoreless first inning, Harvard (20-10, 9-6 Ivy League) jumped out to a lead in the second, bringing home two runs in the frame. Hits from first-year infielder Alexa Muller and Douglas, along with a walk from senior designated player Priyanka Kaul, loaded the bases for Salazar-Stewart. On the sixth pitch of the at-bat, the first-year sent a shot all the way to left field wall, providing the Crimson a two-run lead with an RBI-double.

In the next inning, Harvard grew its lead against Brown (24-12, 9-6), tacking on another run in the third. After singles from Muller and first-year outfielder Elena Weinseimer, Douglas split the gap in the outfield, scoring a run with an RBI-double.

A native of Charlotte, North Carolina, Douglas is now tied for the team lead with sophomore infielder Sophie Sun in RBIs this season with 22.

From there, Flynn shut the door on the Bears, keeping the visitors off the board to secure the Crimson's 20th win of the campaign. Flynn now has two complete games in 2025, as the Crimson earned its fourth shutout this season.

HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS:
  • With the 3-0 win against Brown, the Crimson secure its 18th straight 20-win season, excluding the shortened 2020 season.
  • Flynn collected her second complete game of the year, as it is also the eighth complete game of her collegiate career.
  • The Crimson shutout an opponent for the fourth time in 2025, its second in Ivy League action.
  • Muller ends the Brown series with team-highs in hits (4) and RBIs (4).
