No. 11 Men’s Lacrosse Closes Regular Season With Gritty 11-10 Victory at Brown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The 2025 Harvard men's lacrosse regular season has officially come to close after the team defeated the Brown Bears on the road by a score of 11-10. The Crimson (10-3, 4-2 Ivy) gutted out a hard-fought victory after a clutch Graham Stevens save led into Jack Speidell netting the game-winning-goal with under a minute remaining in regulation. Logan Ip was Harvard's hero in the contest as the junior scored a game and career high five goals to spark the Crimson offense.

The Crimson reached double digit wins for the first time since the 2014 season with the result and will now head into the Ivy League tournament next weekend as the league's three-seed.

How It Happened

The Crimson and the Bears renewed its long-standing Ivy League rivalry this afternoon on a rainy day in Providence at Stevenson-Pincince Field. The series has been incredibly close over the past three seasons with Harvard taking each of the past three games by just a single goal.

The Bears jumped out to a quick 2-0 advantage after scoring a pair of goals in the first minute of action. The Harvard defense settled in after the run, forcing back-to-back Brown shot clock violations. After another empty possession, the Bears added its third straight tally to build a 3-0 lead midway through the first quarter. The Crimson had a few good looks on goal get stopped, leading into Brown's final goal of the quarter. The first 15 minutes ended with Brown leading 4-0.

The Crimson went to work in the second quarter, leading off the period with a goal courtesy of Logan Ip. Harvard tacked on another after Jack Speidell caused a turnover on a Brown failed clear before finding Teddy Malone, who potted his first goal of the day. On the next three Brown possessions, Logan Darrin caused a turnover, and Graham Stevens made a trio of saves to hold off the Bears attack. The Crimson tied up the game at four goals apiece after two more goals from Andrew Perry and Ip. The Bears stopped the run with a late first-quarter goal to restore a lead and take a 5-4 advantage into the halftime break.

The Harvard defense was sharp in the early going of the third quarter, forcing the Bears into their fourth shot clock violation of the game. After a pair of empty possessions for the Crimson offense, Brown added another tally to take a 6-4 lead. A Brown turnover and two more huge saves from Graham Stevens led into Harvard's fifth goal of the game which was scored by Sam King. The senior captain came back with another goal on Harvard's next possession to tie the game at six goals apiece. The sides would go back and forth for the remaining minutes of the quarter, with Brown getting one goal on the board before an answer by Harvard's Ip. The score would be deadlocked at seven a side heading into the final quarter of play.

Owen Guest sent a shockwave through the Harvard bench with an electric goal off a faceoff win to begin the quarter, giving Harvard its first lead of the afternoon. Brown punched back with two back-to-back goals to restore its lead at 9-8. The Bears had a huge opportunity after a Harvard flag early in the fourth quarter resulted in a locked in, two-minute penalty. Graham Stevens made a huge stop on the ensuing Brown possession to hold off the Bear's man-up unit. After a successful clear, Harvard ran the clock down before Logan Ip weaved through traffic and scored a crease-dive goal to tie the game at nine. The goal was the first man-down strike for the Crimson this season.

After Jackson Henehan won the ensuing faceoff draw, Ip continued his tear, scoring his fifth goal of the game to restore a one-goal lead for the Crimson. The Bears did not shy away, scoring yet another game-tying goal with four minutes remaining. Brown won the following faceoff and put a good shot on cage but Graham Stevens was up to the task, making yet another clutch stop to send Harvard into the offensive end. With time winding down, Sam King corralled a loose ball before finding an open Jack Speidell who threaded a shot inside the near post to put the Crimson on top, 11-10. Brown controlled the ensuing faceoff draw, but not for long, as Owen Guest forced the ball carrier out of bounds to give Harvard possession. Brown had one last look after a Harvard turnover, but Martin Nelson put the clamps on and caused a turnover to effectively end the game, sending Harvard back to Boston with an 11-10 victory over Brown.
