Sailing Posts Best ICSA Women’s Team Race Finish in Program History

CRANSTON, R.I. – Harvard Sailing posted its best performance at the ICSA Women's Team Race National Championship, finishing in third place. The Crimson's showing marked the second straight year it established a new program standard after it finished in fifth in 2024.

With Sunday's action called early due to windy conditions, Harvard finished the Round of 12 today with a 1-2-5 win over Brown before falling to Tulane, 1-5-6. With an 7-4 record, the Crimson secured a spot in the Round of 6.

Harvard started the round off with a get-back win over Tulane, 1-2-6, and dismissed Cornell with a 1-2-5 performance. The Crimson, however, suffered losses to Stanford (3-5-6), Yale (3-5-6) and Dartmouth (1-4-6) to put it at 9-7 for the regatta. The nine wins were enough to advance Harvard to the Final Four with Yale, Stanford and Cornell.

The Crimson was the first on the water for the last round and opposed Yale, with the Bulldogs earning a 1-2-4 win. Stanford then finished 1-2-4 vs. the Big Red, which ended up being the last race of the day due to a lack of wind.

With the action terminated, Stanford was crowned national champion with a 16-1 record and was followed by Yale (15-2), Harvard (9-8) and Cornell (8-9) in the team standings.

The Crimson was represented by skippers Cordelia Burn, Kate Danielson and Zoey Ziskind, with the trio being assisted by Margo Silliman, Amelie Zucker, Kennedy Leehealey, Alexandra Dorofeev and Peyton Hadfield.

Harvard will now wait to see if it receives an at-large berth to the ICSA Women's Fleet Race National Championship. The announcement is slated for tomorrow, with the national regatta scheduled for May 20-23, in St. Mary's City, Maryland.
