Harvard-Radcliffe Lightweights Set to Race in 50th Annual Eastern Sprints Regatta

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard-Radcliffe lightweight rowing team will compete at the 2025 Eastern Sprints Regatta on Sunday, May 4, on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the prestigious event. Racing will be streamed live all day on Overnight.com.

  • 4+ A - 1:20 p.m. ET

What to Know

  • Milestone Year: 2025 marks the 50th edition of the Eastern Sprints Regatta.
  • Winning Tradition: Harvard-Radcliffe has captured 15 EAWRC Sprints titles since 1979, most recently in 2017.
  • Harvard-Radcliffe lights has shown strong performances all season long, showing all-around racing at the Knecht Cup.
  • Earlier this season in Washington, D.C., the team recorded wins over Georgetown in both the 8+ and 4+ events.
  • Last spring, the varsity eight placed second at Eastern Sprints and earned a bronze medal at the IRA National Championship Regatta — the program's first IRA medal since 2016. Harvard-Radcliffe also finished second at the Princeton Chase during the fall season.
  • The 2025 campaign marks the first spring season under new head coach Stacey Apfelbaum, who brings a fresh perspective and strong leadership to the program.
