PRINCETON, N.J. – Sophomore pitcher
Nicolette Hunter collected a career-high eight strikeouts in Harvard softball's 2025 Ivy League Tournament opener against Columbia, as the Crimson fell just short against the Lions, 2-1.
Hunter, an All-Ivy League Second Team honoree this year, held Columbia hitless and scoreless across the first six innings of the day. A native of Camarillo, California, Huner hit 100 career strikeouts this afternoon. Sophomore infielder

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Harvard (26-12, 15-6 Ivy League) produced the first run of the afternoon against Columbia (24-16, 15-6). A leadoff walk and a stolen base from sophomore outfielder
Audrey Szollosi put a runner in scoring position for Sun, as the All-Ivy League honorable mention pulled a pitch to left field to bring home Szollosi for the initial run.
Hunter was stellar in the circle throughout the contest, limiting the scoring chances for the Lions. Across the second and third innings, Hunter struck out struck out four straight batters. An All-Ivy League Second Team honoree this season, Hunter held the Lions scoreless and hitless for the first six innings, ending the day with a career-high eight strikeouts.
In the seventh inning, Columbia took the lead with two runs, securing the win with three outs in the bottom of the seventh.
Sun and Szollosi both recorded hits for the Crimson, as four different Harvard student-athletes combined for five walks.
