Baseball’s Pauley, Fang Selected in 2025 Major League Baseball Draft

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard University baseball rising junior right-handed pitcher Truman Pauley and rising senior right-handed pitcher Callan Fang have both been selected in the 2025 Major League Baseball Draft on Monday.
 
Pauley went to the New York Mets in the 12th round with the 373rd overall pick while Fang was picked by the Minnesota Twins in the 13th round with the 389th overall selection. Harvard has now had two pitchers selected in each of the last three MLB Drafts.
 
Harvard has now totaled six selections over the last three MLB Drafts, including right-handed pitchers Chris Clark (2023, Los Angels Angles, fifth round), Jay Driver (2023, Cleveland Guardians, ninth round), Sean Matson (2024, Cleveland Guardians, ninth round), and Tanner Smith (2024, San Diego Padres, 15th round).
 
Pauley excelled as a sophomore in 2025, ranking third in the NCAA in hits allowed per nine innings (5.37), earning Honorable Mention All-Ivy honors, and gaining a spot on the Ivy League All-Tournament Team. Pauley led the Ivy League in strikeouts (91) and opponents average (.171), while ranking 32nd in the nation in strikeouts per nine innings (11.64). In 2025, the CSC Academic All-District selection registered 91 strikeouts over 70.1 innings with a .171 opponents' average and 4.61 ERA. Over his two collegiate seasons, he has posted 132 strikeouts over 114.1 innings pitched.
 
Fang distinguished himself as one of the top pitchers in the Ivy League over the last three seasons, earning Ivy League Rookie of the Year as a first-year in 2023, capturing Ivy League Pitcher of the Year as a sophomore in 2024, and totaling four All-Ivy awards, including two First Team All-Ivy selections. Over his three-year collegiate career, he posted a 4.54 ERA with 190 strikeouts over 164.2 innings pitched. As a sophomore in 2024, he notched 83 strikeouts against 20 walks over 64.0 innings with a 4.64 ERA following a rookie season in 2023 that saw him act as the team's closer, compiling five saves and 45 strikeouts over 36.2 innings. In 2025, he threw 64.0 innings with 62 strikeouts and a 4.36 ERA. Fang also garnered All-ECAC, CSC Academic All-District, and Ivy League All-Tournament Team honors over the course of his career.
