CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior goalkeeper
Lucian Wood made five saves, and the Crimson outshot the Bruins in the second half, but Harvard University men's soccer fell to Belmont University, 1-0, on Friday night at Jordan Field in its season and opener.
In the first all-time meeting between the two teams, neither side found the back of the net in the first half before the Bruins (3-0-0) scored in the 61
st minute to top the host Crimson (0-1-0) in a match that was delayed one hour and 15 minutes due to weather.
Wood totaled five or more saves in a match for the sixth time in his career, but Belmont's Brock Kiper netted a goal at the 60:39 mark with assists from Brad Dildy and Oscar Hough that stood as the decisive tally.

How It Happened
- Wood posted three saves in the first half, turning aside Belmont attempts in the 17th, 23rd, and 36th minutes.
- A shot from Veilikin carried over the bar in the 41st minute.
- The Crimson generated several chances to open the second half, registering three shots and two corner kicks between the 54th and 56th minutes with shot attempts from senior Rustin Khosravi and sophomore Shane Lonergan.
- The Bruins broke the tie in the 61st minute as Kiper sent a header into the net following a cross from the left side from Dildy.
- Harvard continued to pressure the visitors in the final quarter hour with a pair of corners and three shots – from Castel and juniors Dylan Tellado and Ben Kelly – before Belmont held on for the decision.
