CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Junior
Ben Kelly scored his first goal of the season in the first half, and Harvard University men's soccer beat the University of New Hampshire, 1-0, on Tuesday night at Jordan Field as the Crimson improved to 3-0-1 in its last four matches.
Opening a four-game homestand, the Crimson (3-1-1) struck in the 27
th minute as Kelly converted off an assist from junior
Andreas Savva, and Harvard posted its second shutout as a team this season on its way to the win over the visiting Wildcats (0-4-3).
Kelly now has five points on the year behind a goal and a team-high three assists, Savva improved his point total to a team-best six points on the year, and senior goalkeeper
Cullen MacNeil earned the clean sheet in his first start of the year.
As part of the Crimson's undefeated four-game stretch, Harvard has earned wins over Providence (2-0), California (3-1), and New Hampshire (1-0) alongside a 1-1 road draw at unbeaten UConn.

Harvard Highlights
- Junior Ben Kelly scored his first goal of the year and now has five points on the season behind a goal and a team-high three assists. He notched his third career goal and now has 11 career points.
- Junior Andreas Savva tallied his second assist of the season and now has a team-best six points on the year with two goals and two assists. He posted his fourth career assist and now has 14 career points.
- Senior goalkeeper Cullen MacNeil made two saves in his first shutout of the season. He now has five career clean sheets.
- Among the Crimson's field players, sophomore center backs Alexander Castel and Tim Langenbahn each played the full 90 minutes.
- Harvard registered its second shutout as a team this season. For the year, the Crimson has recorded a 0.60 GAA as a team, permitting just three goals over five matches.
- For the match, Harvard held a 4-2 edge in shots on goal while each side took three corner kicks.
How It Happened
- Harvard nearly broke through for the game's opening goal in the 25th minute as senior Ethan Veghte settled a long ball and drove a shot on frame that required a diving save.
- Kelly gave the Crimson the 1-0 lead in the 27th minute as he received a pass from Savva on the right side and slotted a shot into the back of the net.
- In the 43rd minute, junior Dylan Tellado tested the keeper, moving to his to create space before blasting a shot on target from inside the penalty area.
- Savva placed a shot on target in the 76th minute after receiving a long pass, forcing the keeper to go low to make a save.
- The Crimson successfully defended against eight shots from UNH in the second half, including three shot attempts inside the final two minutes.
