Men’s Tennis Opens Fall Season with Annual Home Event, Chowderfest

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard men's tennis will return to the court for the first time this fall as it hosts its annual home tournament, Chowderfest, from Friday, September 19 through Sunday, September 21.

What to Know

  • The Crimson will host athletes from Brown, Yale, Cornell, Southern Methodist, Illinois, and Boston University during the three-day event at Beren Tennis Center. 
  • Harvard is coming off yet another strong year where it finished 20-7 and made its sixth straight NCAA Tournament appearance. 
  • Prior to the 2025-26 season, the Crimson added three first-years to its roster in Nathan Blokhin, Noah Gilligan, and Kolos Kincses
  • Ahead of the year, Harvard received a pair of nods in the ITA Men's Division I Preseason Singles and Doubles Rankings.  Benjamin Privara is ranked No. 49 nationally for singles and No. 58 in doubles alongside Masato Perera
  • The Crimson is set for another strong season as it returns nearly 85% of its singles victories from last year. 
  • Seniors Melchior Delloye (18), Valdemar Pape (17), and Perera (16) each recorded 16 or more victories throughout the 2024-25 season.
  • Additionally, Rohan Murali is poised for a breakout season after 16 wins last year and a strong summer where he advanced to the semifinals of the ITA National Summer Championships. 
  • Ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, Delloye and Pape were selected as captains of Harvard men's tennis by their teammates. 
  • Andrew Rueb '95, The Scott Mead '77 Head Coach for Harvard Men's Tennis, enters his eighth year at the helm of the Crimson.  In his tenure, Rueb has accumulated 110 wins, three Ivy League Championships, and two All-Americans in six years of competition. 

Next Up

The Crimson will next travel to New Haven, Conn. to compete at the ITA New England Regionals from Thursday, October 9 through Monday, October 13.
