Ruohonen Records Three Points in 5-1 Win Over St. Lawrence

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Crimson swept the season series with St. Lawrence after a 5-1 win on Friday night, as Coach Donato picked up his 326th career victory.

On a night when the program honored Coach Donato for his record-breaking win back in December, the Crimson pulled away from St. Lawrence in a very chippy game to start the weekend.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Crimson added two goals in the opening minutes, as Richard Gallant scored the first of the game before Mason Langenbrunner notched his first of the season for an early lead. Gallant scored his fifth goal of the season after some chaos out front to get the Crimson off and running.

Mason Langenbrunner shortly doubled the Crimson lead after a rocket from the point. Scoring his first of the season, the senior captain and defenseman had a career year on the blueline last season.

St. Lawrence got one back on a breakaway later in the period to give Harvard a 2-1 lead heading into the second intermission.

Heikki Ruohonen scored his first goal since returning from the World Junior Championships in Minnesota after converting on a very similar goal to the first Crimson tally. A power-play marker, the first-year put home a puck that was lying in the crease to put Harvard back up by two.

In the third, Matthew Morden scored a highlight-reel goal for his first of the season, netting a shorthanded tally. An extremely rare shorthanded breakaway goal by a defenseman on a 4-3 power play, Morden's first goal of the season was assisted by Mason Langenbrunner and Heikki Ruohonen.

Will Hughes picked up the empty-netter to seal the deal.
