Women’s Swimming and Diving Tops Penn, Boston College to Remain Unbeaten

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Women's Swimming and Diving improved to 8–0 on the season after defeating Ivy League opponent Penn and Boston College Saturday afternoon at Blodgett Pool. The Crimson topped Penn, 199–101, and defeated BC, 251–45, behind strong performances across all the swimming events and a sweep of both diving competitions.

How It Happened
  • The Crimson started the day strong as Anya Mostek, Stephanie Iannaccone, Sydney Lu, and Blythe Wieclawek captured first place in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:41.88.
  • Carolina Daher touched first in the 1000 free with a time of 10:03.33. The first-year also added a victory in the 500 free, clocking 4:55.81, just edging teammate Alexandra Bastone in a Harvard 1–2 finish.
  • Mostek delivered another outstanding performance, winning the 100 back, 50 free, and 200 back.
  • Mostek's victory in the 100 back ignited a four-event win streak for the Crimson. Aliana Marakovic followed with a win in the 100 breast (1:04.07), before Hazel Mouhidin captured first place in the 200 fly (1:59.78).
  • Harvard swept the podium in the 200 breast, led by Iannaccone, followed by Marakovic and Gabi Augustyn. 
  • Kiley Wilhelm recorded an individual win in the 100 fly with a time of 53.30, while Lu finished close behind in 54.53.
  • Harvard went 1–2 in the 200 IM, with Iannaccone adding another win on the day and Augustyn finishing just behind. Iannaccone posted a new personal best, dropping her time from 2:08.35 to 2:03.58.
  • The Crimson closed out the swimming events with a strong showing in the 400 free relay, as the A team of Marakovic, Sarah Beckman, Isabella Alas, and Wieclawek took first with a time of 3:24.31.
  • On the boards, Nina Janmyr claimed first place in both the 1-meter (288.60) and 3-meter (313.80) diving events. Samantha Holtz added a second-place finish in the 3-meter with 287.90 points.
Up Next
Harvard will welcome Yale and Princeton in two weeks for the annual HYP (Harvard-Yale-Princeton) meet. The two-day regular-season finale is slated for Jan. 30- 31 at Blodgett Pool and will also be the Crimson's Senior Meet.
