Charette Shuts Out Union As Men's Hockey Sweeps Weekend

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – A 28-save shutout from sophomore Ben Charette helped secure a 4–0 win over Union on Monday afternoon as the Crimson won all three games over MLK weekend.

Four different goal scorers found the back of the net to help secure the weekend sweep and give Harvard a key nine points in the ECAC standings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Joe Miller opened the scoring as the senior finished his strong weekend with another big goal for the Crimson to get the game started.

Picking up a bank pass from Matthew Morden, Miller picked the corner from the far side – almost identical to his goal a week ago against Boston University.

Harvard carried the 1–0 lead into the break.

Coming out of the second period, Chase Stefanek nearly scored on a rebound goal before making no mistake on the same shift after the rookie went five-hole from the top of the circle for his first collegiate goal.

In the third, Ben Charette stood strong, holding off the Union attack. His two biggest saves of the period came on a post-to-post stop to preserve his shutout. Harvard would go on to score two goals off the rush to clinch its third straight win.

Beginning with a give-and-go with Aidan Lane and Chase Stefanek, Lane found Ben MacDonald on a two-on-one who made no mistake to make it three-nothing before Matthew Morden added the fourth goal on a very similar play to close the big weekend for the Crimson.
