HAMILTON, N.Y. –
Ben Charette stood tall for the third consecutive game as Harvard defeated Colgate by a score of 3-1 on Friday night in Hamilton to win its fourth straight game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Harvard had two power-plays in the opening period and was unable to convert on the first look before
Donato Bracco scored his first career goal on the man advantage after a shot from the point found its way in to give Harvard a 1-0 lead. The Crimson carried the lead into the first intermission.
Mick Thompson scored the second goal of the game off another strange bounce after
Philip Tresca threw a puck on net from the corner that hit the back of the Colgate netminder and bounced off the post and into the crease for a tap in goal.
Later in the period
Drake Murray caught the Raiders in a change, sped into the zone and went behind the net before finding a crashing
Ben MacDonald in the slot for the third goal of the game. MacDonald now has goals in back-to-back games.
Ben Charette wasn't tested throughout the game but any good look from the Raiders was swept away with some big pad stops from the sophomore. Charette made two in the second period to help protect the Crimson lead.
Colgate would score their only goal of the game on the power-play late in the third period. Colgate had multiple power-plays in the third period and had their net empty for most of the final four minutes but
Ben Charette and the Crimson defense were able to shut the door and win Harvard fourth straight game.
