Thompson Scores Lone Goal in Loss to No. 12 Cornell

ITHACA, NY.  – A three goal second period from the Cornell was enough to carry the nationally ranked Big Red to a 4-1 win at Lynah Rink on Saturday night. The loss snaps the Crimson's four game win streak and drops Harvard to 9-5 in ECAC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In a difficult place to get going, Harvard had no problem finding its pace in the opening minutes. Weathering both the Big Red attack but also finding the Cornell defense in transition for some good looks throughout the period.

Casey Severo had the chance of the period for Harvard after hitting the post off  a rebound form his own deflection before the puck went the other way and Ben Charette made a big save to keep the game scoreless.

Both teams traded penalties near the end of the first period which led to Harvard killing off an abbreviated five on three opportunity for the Big Red heading into the break.

Cornell came out firing in the second with three goals to take a commanding lead. The Big Red netted two goals in 20 seconds to double their lead before a third goal off the rush gave them a 3-0 lead.

Down by three, Mick Thompson found the back of the net just as a power-play was expiring to cut the lead to two late in the game.

Cornell answered right away to make it 4-1.
