CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard women's tennis will begin its quest to a third straight NCAA Tournament as it hosts three matches on its home courts across the next five days. The Crimson's season will kick off on Friday January 23 at 12:00 p.m. ET.
Harvard will then welcome two crosstown foes to the Murr Center beginning with Boston University on Sunday, January 25 at 11:00 a.m. ET and followed by Boston College on Tuesday, January 27 at 6:00 p.m. ET.
What to Know
- The Crimson is coming off back-to-back historic seasons in which it returned to the NCAA Tournament for the first times since 2010.
- In 2025, Harvard went 7-0 in Ivy League play for the first time since 2006 to win its 20th Ivy League Championship and first since 2017.
- Despite losing Holly Fischer, its top singles player from a year ago, the Crimson is poised for another run at the title as it returned the core of its lineup.
- Included in its returners is Stephanie Yakoff who has had a dominant start to her junior campaign. The junior captain holds a 10-1 singles record and 8-3 doubles record after the 2025 fall season.
- In the fall, Yakoff earned her first ever bid to the NCAA Women's Singles Championship and became the first player in program history to win a match since at least 2002.
- With her dominant showing in the fall which also included a championship at the ITA New England Regionals, Yakoff was ranked No. 49 in the final fall rankings.
- The Crimson also returns Charlotte Owensby and Kavya Karra. Both looked in midseason form in the fall, accumulating records of 9-4 and 8-2, respectively. Each player also recorded a team-best 10 doubles wins in the fall.
- Owensby while partners with first-year Claire Shao advanced to the ITA Conference Masters after being crowned the Ivy League doubles champions.
- Shao also had an impressive first fall season, accumulating a singles record of 7-3.
