CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard women's basketball (11-8, 4-2 Ivy) dropped Yale (5-14, 1-4 Ivy), 72-44, in the first game of the weekend this evening at Lavietes Pavilion.
Karlee White led all scorers with 19 points on 8-of-16 shooting while also adding six boards, four steals, and a block.
Saniyah Glenn-Bello shot a near-perfect 7-of-8 to add 16 points against the Bulldogs.
Abigail Wright rounded out the Crimson's double-digit scorers by adding 10 points.
How it Happened
The Crimson immediately pulled ahead, 8-2, in the contest with the help of Glenn-Bello's early sharp shooting. The senior was a perfect 4-for-4 with 10 points in the opening frame to help Harvard establish a 22-14 lead after 10 minutes.
Despite having its lowest scoring output of the game in the second quarter, the Crimson's defense forced six turnovers to keep a firm 35-27 lead heading into halftime.
Harvard doubled its shooting percentage from the quarter prior in the third to grow an even larger lead over the Bulldogs. Harvard outscored the Bulldogs 18-12 and forced eight turnovers to gain a double-digit advantage heading into the fourth.
The Crimson then completely shut the door on the Bulldogs as a balanced scoring attack grew the lead out to 22 and then 30 as the Crimson's shut Yale down. Harvard allowed just five Yale points in the final frame to win 72-44.
Harvard Highlights
- Karlee White continues to perform at a high level for the Crimson, tonight pacing the offense with 19 points (8-of-16 FG, 3-of-6 3-PT). The junior also added six boards, two assists, a block, and four steals. In the last five games White is averaging 16.0 points while shooting 57.1%.
- Saniyah Glenn-Bello had a near flawless shooting performance with 16 points on 7-of-8 shooting. The senior started the game with 10 points on 4-for-4 shooting in the first quarter.
- Abigail Wright was the final of three double-digit scorers for the Crimson as she added 10 points this evening.
- Olivia Jones was a strong presence for Harvard adding seven points, a team-high 12 boards and four assists, and two steals.
- For the second straight game, the Crimson had 10 players contribute to its scoring total of 72 points.
- The Crimson recorded 11 steals and forced 23 turnovers. Harvard converted for 28 points off the Bulldogs' miscues. Conversely, the Crimson's offense turned the ball over just seven times.
- With the win, the Crimson improves to 61-37 overall, including winning the last six straight over the Bulldogs.
