Glenn-Bello Buzzer Beater Lifts Women’s Basketball Past Brown, 61-58

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Saniyah Glenn-Bello hit two threes in the final 15 seconds of the game to lift Harvard women's basketball (11-8, 4-2 Ivy) over Brown (12-6, 4-2 Ivy), 61-58.  Glenn-Bello was clutch down the stretch for the Crimson this evening as she tied the contest with 15 seconds remaining and then hit a buzzer beater to down the Bears in regulation.

Karlee White had another dominant game, leading the Crimson with 21 points on 9-of-14 shooting.  The junior paced Harvard's fourth quarter comeback with 10 points, two assists, and two steals.

How it Happened

The Crimson struggled to find its groove on the offensive end through the first five minutes, but its defense held the Bears to just one field goal to lead 7-3.  Harvard's offense then really came alive as Saniyah Glenn-Bello and Mary Hollensteiner delivered three straight triples.  After one, the Crimson led 18-8.  Harvard continued to push ahead in the second, leading by as many as 14 but Brown never went away.  With a late quarter push, the Bears began to shift the energy and trailed by just six heading into the break.  Using the momentum of a second quarter buzzer beater, the Bears came out of the locker room hot, going 9-2 run to take their first lead of the game at 40-39.  The Crimson's struggles continued throughout the entirety of the quarter, getting outscored by 12 to trail 47-41 heading into the final frame.

White then began to take over to fuel the Crimson's comeback.  Three buckets from White and another from Abigail Wright pushed Harvard back into the lead at the 6:06 mark.  With lockdown full-court defense, the Crimson never trailed by more than one possession again.  The Bears went up three following a putback back with 22 seconds remaining but it would ultimately be the final points for Brown.  On the following possession Glenn-Bello hit a wing three to tie the game at 58-58. The Bears then turned the ball over, giving the Crimson the control of the final shot.  After drawing three defenders on the right side, White found Glenn-Bello who sunk another clutch three as time expired.
