HAMILTON, N.Y. – Harvard women's hockey battled for 60 minutes on Friday night but could not find a way to get past the Colgate Raiders, who earned a 3-0 win over the Crimson. Harvard (11-12-2, 5-10-2 ECAC) generated a strong push late and finished with 24 shots on goal, but the Raiders held on behind to hold off Harvard and earn the win.
How it Happened
The Crimson kicked off its road trip this evening with a game in Hamilton against the Raiders. Harvard faced an early push from Colgate who scored the game's first goal early in the opening period to help Colgate build a 1-0 lead. Starting Crimson goaltender,
Emily Davidson, settled in well after the goal, making saves on the next eight shots she faced in the period to keep the Crimson within striking range. Harvard threw fives shots of its own on target but was kept off the scoreboard as the team skated into the first intermission facing a one-goal deficit.
The Crimson settled in and created more quality looks in the second period but Colgate turned aside all six Harvard shots in the frame. The Raiders doubled their lead late in the period to build a 2-0 lead after 40 minutes played. Davidson made another 12 stops in the period, moving her total to 20 for the night.
Harvard pushed hard in the third, outshooting Colgate 13-4 in the final period and earning two power-play opportunities, but the Crimson couldn't break through. Colgate added its third goal of the night late in the third to close out the 3-0 final.
