Women’s Swimming and Diving Splits HYP Meet

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Harvard Women's Swimming and Diving completed the HYP meet on Saturday splitting the dual meet with a victory over Yale and falling in a tight battle with Princeton. The Crimson downed the Bulldogs, 207-93, and fell 139.5-160.5 to the Tigers. 

After today's meet, Harvard improved to 9-1 on the season and completed its Ivy League schedule with a 6-1 record.

How It Happened
  • Nina Janmyr took second in the first event of the day, the one-meter diving competition, with a final score of 295.25. Tabitha Chen-Fiske, Ennika Carlson, and Samantha Holtz placed sixth, seventh, and eighth, respectively.
  • The Crimson opened the swimming events with a third-place finish in the 100 free by Kiley Wilhelm. Wilhelm touched in at 49.13, just 0.06 seconds behind Princeton's Sophia Sunwoo and 0.43 seconds behind first-place finisher Sophia Johnston of Yale. Blythe Wieclawek finished fourth, clocking in at 50.28. 
  • Anya Mostek won Harvard's first event of the day in the 200 back, posting a time of 1:54.38. 
  • Aliana Marakovic finished as the runner-up in the 200 breast following a close race with Princeton's Eleanor Sun. Marakovic touched in at 2:11.08, just 0.21 seconds behind Sun.
  • Alexandra Bastone took first in the 500 free, making a comeback against Princeton's Savannah Skow in the final leg of the race. Bastone edged Skow by 1.18 seconds, clocking in at 4:43.02. Carolina Daher added a top-five finish, touching the wall fifth at 4:50.95, while Hazel Mouhidin followed in sixth with a time of 4:53.81.
  • Harvard won the next event, with Sydney Lu taking first in the100 fly with a time of 52.21. Sarah Beckman placed fifth, recording a time of 54.51 
  • Wilhelm finished second in a neck-and-neck race in the 200 IM. She touched the wall just 0.06 seconds after Sun from Princeton. Marakovic added a fourth-place finish (2:00.53) and Gabi Augustyn placed fifth (2:00.80).
  • The Crimson closed out the meet placing fourth in the 400 free relay. The quartet of Wieclawek, Bastone, Isabella Alas, and Kristin Hakonardottir clocked in at 3:21.83.

Harvard returns to action on Wednesday, Feb. 18, when it opens the Ivy League Championships in Providence, Rhode Island. The meet is slated to run from Feb. 18-21. Each day will air live on ESPN+.
