Carla McSweeney Earns ECAC Rookie of the Month Honors for December

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Another Harvard first-year is taking home conference honors after forward Carla McSweeney was named the ECAC Rookie of the Month for December. A winger out of Chicago, McSweeney ended the first semester with goals in back-to-back games against Union (Dec. 5) and RPI (Dec. 6). Goals in the only two December contests for the Crimson helped McSweeney collect the first conference honor of her young career.

A member of the strong first-year class for the Crimson, McSweeney is having a stellar start in her first season for Harvard. She began her career with a late third period game-winning goal in the Crimson's second game against UNH (Oct. 18), earning the nickname "McClutch" from her teammates. She scored another crucial goal in the team's 3-0 win over Dartmouth (Nov. 8) before posting goals in back-to-back games to close out the semester.

In the team's first games back from the holiday break, McSweeney has continued her strong play. The first-year scored goals in both games during the Crimson's Friendship Series run and now finds herself on a 5-game point streak and a four-game goal scoring streak. McSweeney lived up to the "McClutch" nickname once again in the contest against No. 5 Minnesota Duluth, potting the overtime game winner to help lift the Crimson to a massive 3-2 result.

This is the first ECAC monthly honor for the Crimson this season and the first since February of 2022 when Becca Gilmore '22 was tabbed the conference's Forward of the Month.
