PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Harvard Women's Swimming and Diving opened the Ivy League Championship in record-breaking fashion, capturing the 200 medley relay title on day one at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center. The quartet set new program, Ivy League meet, and pool records while earning an NCAA automatic qualifying time.
The Crimson also placed third in the 800 free relay to conclude the evening. After two events, Harvard enters Thursday's action in first place with 118 points, followed by Princeton (112), Brown (110), Yale (104), Penn (104), Cornell (98), Dartmouth (94), and Columbia (88).
How It Happened
- Harvard opened the meet with a statement victory in the 200 medley relay. The quartet of Anya Mostek, AlianaMarakovic, Sydney Lu, and Blythe Wieclawek clocked a 1:36.13, finishing ahead of Princeton (1:36.64) and setting new Ivy meet, Harvard program, and Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center standards.
- The win defended Harvard's Ivy title in the event after last year's championship performance (1:37.14) by Mostek, Aleksandra Denisenko, Lu, and Wieclawek.
- In a non-scoring diving relay exhibition, Harvard placed second with 276.30 points, behind Princeton's 295.90.
- Lu, Alexandra Bastone, Carolina Daher, and Marakovic closed out the night for the Crimson with a third-place finish in the 800 free relay, touching in 7:05.23.
