Baseball Falls to Tulane in Series Finale, 11-1

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Senior first baseman Gio Colasante went 2-for-3 with an RBI, but Harvard University baseball fell to Tulane University, 11-1, in seven innings on Sunday afternoon at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium.
 
In the series finale of a three-game set, the Crimson (0-3) pulled within 2-1 in the top of the third on Colasante's RBI before the Green Wave (5-2) plated the game's final nine runs across the third and fourth innings.
 
Colasante added his 2-for-3 day to his grand slam from game two in the series while junior right fielder Ryan Mooney finished 2-for-2, and sophomore catcher Liam Wison hit a double. On the mound, sophomore right-hander Daniel Sams threw 2.0 innings of scoreless relief in his collegiate debut, and junior right-hander Ryan McHugh tacked on an inning of relief without permitting a run.

How It Happened

  • Tulane plated the game's first two runs with one run in each of the bottom of the first and second to take a 2-0 edge.
  • Senior Gio Colasante cut the margin to 2-1 in the top of the third as his single to center field brought home first-year Matthew Witkow.
  • The Green Wave then scored the game's final nine runs with five runs in the bottom of the third and four runs in the last of the fourth.
