LEWISBURG, PA. - No. 7 women's water polo won three of four games this weekend in its first all-conference weekend of the season.
Winning both games on Saturday, the Crimson defeated Bucknell and Saint Francis by a combined score of 31-11. Defeating the Bisons by a score of 14-8 on Saturday morning before a commanding 17-3 win over the Red Flash in the afternoon, the Crimson improved to 11-0 heading into Sunday - its best start in at least 22 years.
In the first game, Harvard led 8-2 at the half and held off a late push in the third quarter as the Bisons cut the Crimson lead to 11-7, but strong defense and goals from Ella Schneider, Maya O'Dea, and Sofia Del Villar helped seal the deal for Harvard.
Harvard jumped out to a hot start against Saint Francis after leading 9-1 at the half. Lucy Levenberg-Penklis led the way with a goal in each quarter while Heidi Heffelfinger and Ella Schneider both added hat-tricks.
On Sunday morning, the Crimson lost a 14-13 nail-biter to No. 14 Michigan for its first loss of the season. The Crimson battled back after trailing 5-1 after the first, 9-3 after the second, and 12-6 after the third. The Crimson finished the weekend with a 16-6 win over Mercyhurst.
