Cambridge, Mass. – Harvard Men's Volleyball (4-9, 2-4 EIVA) swept the University of Charleston (9-8, 3-3 EIVA) in an electric 3-set match on Saturday. This marks The Crimson's fourth win of the season and second conference win (25-19, 25-22, 25-19).
How It Happened
Harvard came out strong and consistent in a three-set performance, showcasing efficiency on both sides of the net. Set one opened with back-and-forth kills spread among the Crimson's top offensive weapons including Zach Berty, Owen Woolbert, Sawyer Nichols, Quinn Bishop, and Brian Thomas. Harvard hit an impressive .400 in the opening frame — their highest hitting percentage of the match — setting the tone early.
In set two, Charleston stayed within striking distance, applying pressure with an influx of attacks and points. However, Harvard's blocking unit stepped up in a big way to hold them off.
Owen Woolbert and
Sawyer Nichols were especially impactful at the net, shutting down key swings and maintaining momentum.
Set three was Harvard's most complete offensive showing. The Crimson hit .391 with 13 kills and added three service aces to close out the match decisively.
This weekend's pair of wins highlighted the Crimson's offensive efficiency and strength at the net, a strong statement performance as Harvard looks to build momentum and continue its win streak in the matches ahead.
