Rayhill ‘26, Héðinsdóttir Gonzalez ‘26, and Kristinsdóttir ‘26 Named Captains for Harvard Women’s Soccer

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Women's Soccer has announced its captains for the 2026–27 season, selecting senior Anna Rayhill alongside classmates Irena Héðinsdóttir Gonzalez and Olof Kristinsdóttir to lead the Crimson.

Rayhill will serve as captain for the second consecutive season after a standout 2025 campaign, while Héðinsdóttir Gonzalez and Kristinsdóttir join the leadership group following impactful junior years.

Rayhill enters the season as one of the program's most decorated returning players. She earned United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors and was named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week during the 2025 season. A First Team All-Ivy League selection and the Crimson's 2025 team captain, Rayhill started all 14 matches for Harvard, anchoring the offense and providing consistent leadership on and off the field.

Héðinsdóttir Gonzalez has been a steady presence in Harvard's lineup throughout her career. As a junior, she earned Second Team All-Ivy League honors after appearing and starting in 13 matches for the Crimson. An Ivy League All-Tournament Team selection in 2024, the Iceland native has been a force in the defensive midfield for the Crimson, helping the team shut down opposing offensive attacks.

Kristinsdóttir brings both resilience and proven scoring ability to the captaincy. After missing her sophomore season due to injury, she returned to earn Second Team All-Ivy League honors and Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week recognition as a junior. Her collegiate résumé is highlighted by an exceptional first-year campaign, during which she was named Ivy League Rookie of the Year, earned Second Team All-Ivy League honors, and tied for the 11th-most goals (eight) by a first-year player nationally. She also ranked No. 38 on the Top Drawer Soccer Postseason Top 100 Freshman list and No. 32 in the Midseason Freshman Rankings.

Together, Rayhill, Héðinsdóttir Gonzalez, and Kristinsdóttir form a leadership trio that combines experience, consistency, and high-level production. With their guidance, Harvard Women's Soccer looks to build on recent success and continue competing at the top of the Ivy League in the upcoming season.
