CAMBRIDGE, Mass. –
Richard Gallant scored the lone goal for the Crimson in a 3-1 loss to No. 14 Dartmouth.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dartmouth opened the scoring after a logjam in front left a puck wide open for Nikita Nikora, who gave the Big Green an early lead.
Harvard responded with a goal of its own after
Heikki Ruohonen broke the puck into the Dartmouth end and found
Matthew Morden across the slot, who then fed
Richard Gallant backdoor for the equalizer. The sixth goal of the season for the first-year, Gallant has scored twice against the Big Green this season.
Dartmouth scored the lone goal of the second period at the end of a power play to open the frame. Matt Fusco was left open on the far dot and picked the corner to give Dartmouth a 2-1 lead.
It was a chippy middle frame that saw Harvard and Dartmouth take a combined 14 penalties. Dartmouth led 21-12 in shots after the second.
Dartmouth scored again early in the third after a deflection in front. Harvard had a power play late in the period and eventually pulled the goalie for an extended man advantage, but was unable to convert. The Crimson held the Big Green to two shots in the third.
