Women's Lacrosse Heads to Chestnut Hill to Face No. 16 BC

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Women's lacrosse makes the quick trip up to Chestnut Hill to take on the nationally ranked Eagles tomorrow at Alumni Stadium. Coming off two straight games at Jordan Field, the Crimson will face ACC opponents in each of its next two matchups before returning to Jordan Field to play Holy Cross.

It marks the first time this season that the Crimson has played two consecutive games against ranked opponents, as Harvard is set to meet the No. 16 Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on ACCNX.

WHAT TO KNOW

  • Harvard is looking for its second non-conference win of the season. Through three non-conference matchups this season, Harvard is 1-2.
  • Harvard is looking for its first win over the Eagles since 2010, with Boston College taking the last nine meetings.
  • The two last met in 2022.
  • Harvard leads the all-time series, 27-14.

LAST TIME OUT

  • The Crimson fell to the nationally ranked Princeton Tigers on Saturday afternoon by a score of 19-13.
  • Harvard battled through the first quarter and a half as the Ivy foes went back and forth before the Tigers pulled away late in the second quarter.
  • The Crimson fought back in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to three after three straight goals to make it a 13-10 game before the Tigers responded with six of the next seven goals.
  • Charlotte Hodgson led the way for the Crimson, completing a hat trick just a minute into the second quarter. The senior midfielder finished the game with four goals.

KEY CONTRIBUTORS

  • Callie Batchelder leads the team in goals through five games with 13 and was the only Crimson player with double-digit goals heading into last weekend's game.
  • Over her last 19 games, the junior has tallied 41 goals.
  • Charlotte Hodgson, who has 12 goals on the season, became the second Crimson to net double-digit goals on the year after a four-goal performance against the Tigers.
  • Hodgson leads the team in points with 12 goals and 10 assists through five games.
  • After recording 48 points last year, Hodgson is over halfway to that career high just five games into the season.

LAST SEASON AT A GLANCE

  • Consistently ranked in the top 25 all season, Harvard opened the year with three wins in its first four games, defeating UAlbany at Jordan Field in the season opener before notching a pair of upsets against No. 15 Navy and No. 23 UConn in late February.
  • Caroline Mullahy was the story of the season for the Crimson, rewriting the Harvard, Ivy League, and NCAA record books after a remarkable campaign. She tallied her 100th career assist in the season opener against UAlbany, broke the Harvard program record with her 112th assist against Bryant in late March, and then broke the Ivy League record in her next game against Brown.
  • Mullahy became just the seventh player in program history to record 200 career points after a six-point outing against Yale. She added two assists in the final game of the season to become just the 15th player in NCAA history to record 150+ career assists.
  • Mullahy was joined by Annabel Child as Crimson honorees on the All-Ivy First Team, and both were named USA Lacrosse All-Americans after earning honorable mention recognition.

NEW TO THE GROUP

  • The Crimson welcomes eight new members to the program as part of the Class of 2029.
  • Three members of the rookie class were named to the Inside Lacrosse Power 100 rankings, with Lexie Koch earning the highest ranking at No. 40, while Emerson Midura and Cecilia Batchelder received honorable mention recognition.

LEADING THE GROUP

  • Despina Giannakopoulos and Kate Gilliam are set to lead the Crimson this season.
  • Giannakopoulos started all 14 games last season and all 15 games the year before, serving as a key member of the defensive unit throughout her tenure.
  • Gilliam returns for her senior season after appearing in 29 games during her Crimson career. The New York native scored three goals last season.

KEY RETURNERS

  • Offensive leaders Charlotte Hodgson, Callie Batchelder, and Grace Mullahy all return for the Crimson.
  • Batchelder recorded a career-high 45 points, with 26 goals and 18 assists, in her sophomore campaign.
  • Hodgson added a career-best 40 points after leading the team with 30 goals.
  • Playing alongside her sister, Grace Mullahy increased her point production by 33 points in her sophomore season.
