CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard University wrestling senior
Jimmy Harrington is set to compete at the 2026 NCAA Championships in the 157-pound bracket from Thursday, Mar. 19 to Sunday, Mar. 21 beginning at noon on Thursday at Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio with mat-by-mat coverage on ESPN+ and featured coverage across ESPNU, ESPN2, and ESPN.
What to Know
- Thursday's NCAA schedule will feature Session 1 at noon (ESPN+/ESPNU) with eight mats for first round action prior to Session 2 at 7:00 p.m. (ESPN+/ESPN) with eight mats featuring second round and consolation first round bouts.
- Friday's schedule will include Session 3 at noon (ESPN+/ESPNU) with quarterfinal and consolation second and third round competition across eight mats. Session 4 will feature six mats beginning at 8:00 p.m. (ESPN+/ESPN2) with the semifinals and consolation fourth and fifth rounds.
- Action will conclude on Saturday with Session 5 at 11:00 a.m. (ESPN+/ESPNU) featuring the consolation semifinals and third, fifth, and seventh-place matches across four mats ahead of Session 6 at 6:30 p.m. (ESPN+/ESPN) with one mat for the championship matches and awards ceremony.
- Harrington – the No. 20 seed at 157 pounds in the NCAA bracket and ranked No. 21 in the final NCAA Coaches' Rankings – will meet No. 13 seed Derek Raike (21-5) of Ohio at 157 pounds in the round of 32 on Thursday.
- Now a two-time NCAA qualifier, Harrington will compete at the event for the second straight season after making his NCAA debut in 2025.
- Harrington earned Honorable Mention All-Ivy honors at 157 pounds alongside Academic All-Ivy accolades. Harrington gained All-Ivy laurels for the first time and Academic All-Ivy plaudits for the second time. Harrington has posted a 21-8 record on the year, leading the team in wins (21), dual wins (nine), Ivy dual wins (four), and major decisions (six).
- Harrington paced Harvard at the 2025 Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, finishing in eighth place in the 157-pound weight class. Harrington won each of his first two matches on day one on Friday and added a win in the blood round in his final bout of the opening day to capture a spot on the podium.
- Harrington earned Ivy League Wrestler of the Week honors on Nov. 11 after winning the 157-pound title at the Journeymen Classic behind a 3-0 record. He opened competition with a 13-1 major decision over Owen O'Connor of Army before topping Binghamton's Fin Nadeau, 12-7. In the finals, Harrington beat Penn State's Joe Sealey with a 10-9 decision.
- Closing out the 2024-25 season, Harrington represented the Crimson at the NCAA Championships in Philadelphia, competing in the 157-pound weight class and earning a victory to advance to day two of the championships.
- Harvard has tallied three NCAA champions in program history while totaling 28 All-America awards across 19 student-athletes. The Crimson last posted an All-American in a year in which the championships took place in 2012 with Steven Keith and Walter Peppelman. Yaraslau Slavikouski earned All-America status in 2020 when the championships were canceled.
- The Crimson has qualified wrestlers for the NCAA Championships 61 times, dating back to 1930. Since 1992, Harvard has qualified wrestlers 32 times out of 34 seasons in which the team has competed.
- Jay Weiss, The David G. Bunning '88 Head Coach for Harvard Wrestling, enters his 32nd season as the leader of the Crimson after beginning his tenure at Harvard in 1994-95.
