Alexandra Bastone and
Anya Mostek competed on day three of the NCAA Championships on Friday in Atlanta, Georgia. Bastone swam in the 500 free while Mostek raced in both the 100 back and 50 free.
Mostek, the reigning Ivy League champion and record holder in the 100 back, entered the meet with the 24th-fastest seed time in the nation (51.31). She clocked a 52.18 in the preliminary heats to finish 34th overall in a competitive 48-athlete field. Mostek also took to the blocks for the 50 free, posting a time of 22.53 to place 40th. While she did not advance to the evening finals, Mostek's nationals journey continues tomorrow in the 200 back event.
Bastone returned to the pool for her second race after competing in the 1650 on Wednesday morning. Having secured the 500 free Ivy League title with a 4:40.94, she entered the meet seeded 31st nationally. Bastone touched the wall in 4:44.68 to finish 40th, concluding her second consecutive appearance at the national championships.
Sydney Lu will also return to action tomorrow, competing in the 200 fly. Prelims are scheduled for 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT, with the finals slated for 6 p.m. ET/ 3 p.m. PT. All the action will air live on ESPN+.
