SARASOTA, Fla. -- The Harvard men's heavyweight rowing team completed its first spring race of the season in day one of the Sarasota Invitational on Nathan Benderson Lake. The third varsity eight had the top finish of the day; defeating both Washington and Stanford with a tim of 5:47.62.
The first varsity eight and second varsity eight each finished in second against the Huskies and Cardinal. The third varsity eight, coxed by first-year
Cate Frerichs, pulled away for the victory in the Crimson's second race of the afternoon. Harvard's third varsity eight finished better than four seconds clear of Washington.
The first varsity eight was narrowly defeated in the final race. Coxed by
Natalia Toms, Harvard's varsity eight crossed in 5:34.83; 1.57 behind Washington.
All four Harvard boats are back in the water for the second and final day of competition in Sarasota beginning at 10:30 am on Saturday morning. Live results are provided by
