Softball Welcomes Dartmouth This Weekend

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After spending 23 games on the road to start the 2026 season, Harvard softball makes its anticipated return to Soldiers Field this weekend, as the Crimson welcome Dartmouth for the first home series of the season on Saturday, Mar. 28 and Sunday, Mar. 29.

The series opens up at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Mar. 28, as the Crimson and the Big Green wrap up the weekend with a doubleheader scheduled to start at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Mar. 29. Admission to Soldiers Field is free of charge as all three contests will air live on ESPN+.

CRIMSON UPDATES
  • Harvard is 10-12-1 as it returns to Cambridge, Massachusetts to play the first contests at Soldiers Field during the 2026 season. Across the last five games, Harvard is 4-1, outscoring its opponents during that time span, 23-10.
  • Last weekend saw the Crimson play five games in Connecticut, facing Sacred Heart in a midweek doubleheader before opening Ivy League action at Yale.
  • The Crimson took both contests in the doubleheader against the Pioneers. Propelled by a stellar complete game effort from junior pitcher Nicolette Hunter, the Crimson earned a 4-1 win against Sacred Heart to start the day in Fairfield, Connecticut, as a two-run home run from junior infielder Sophie Sun made the difference in the fifth inning.
  • The second game of the doubleheader saw Harvard tally a season-high in runs scored in a 11-3 victory. Four different Crimson recorded multiple hits, while senior pitcher Riley Flynn struck out a career-high 12 batters across her first complete game outing of the year.
  • In New Haven, Connecticut, Harvard earned two hard fought victories against longtime rival Yale to start conference play.  The series opener saw Harvard excel in all areas, capturing a 6-2 win. Senior infielder Finley Payne launched a solo home run to start the scoring in the second inning, as Hunter took a no-hitter bid into the sixth inning.
  • After dropping the second game of the series, 4-1, the Crimson bounced back in the series finale, shutting out the Bulldogs to win the series via a 1-0 scoreline. Hunter made an impact both at the plate and in the circle, as the Camarillo, California native tossed five scoreless innings and hit a solo home run in the fourth inning to score the only run of the game.
  • Across 17.1 innings pitched last week, Hunter posted a stellar 0.40 ERA and struck out 13 batters as well. The Crimson pitching staff held its opponents to a .190 batting average last week.
  • Harvard ranks first in the Ivy League in ERA (3.00), shutouts (3), strikeouts per seven innings (6.05) and WHIP (1.47). Nationally, the Crimson pitching staff is 17th nationally in strikeout-to-walk ratio at 2.74. The Crimson also ranks second in the Ivy League in his with 180.
  • Harvard's team captains this season are senior pitcher Ryan Grace, junior outfielder Audrey Szollosi and junior utility Megan Davies.
  • Head coach Jenny Rohn is in her third season at the helm of the Crimson softball program, leading Harvard to the Ivy League Tournament in back-to-back season and an Ivy League regular season title in 2024. Rohn is 98-89-1 in her career and 63-42-1 in her time with the Crimson.
SCOUTING THE BIG GREEN
  • Dartmouth brings a 3-11 record to Soldiers Field this weekend, as the Big Green started Ivy League with play with a 1-2 record in the Keystone State at Penn last weekend.
  • After dropping both games in the series opening doubleheader, the Big Green earned a 14-0 run-rule victory to end its time in the City of Brotherly Love.
  • In the Ivy League, the Big Green ranks fifth in team batting average (.273) and eighth in team ERA (6.97).
SERIES HISTORY
  • Harvard and Dartmouth have met 105 times on the softball diamond, with the Crimson leading the all-time series, 78-27.
  • In a three-game set in Hanover, New Hampshire last season, Harvard swept the Big Green, as all three games were decided by more than one run.
  • Across the last 10 games of the series, Harvard is 8-2 against the Big Green.
LIGHTS OUT
  • Harvard's pitching staff is one of the most talented crews in the Ivy League, as the Crimson is defined by its skill and depth at the pitching position.
  • After 23 contests, Harvard leads the Ivy League with a 3.00 team ERA, as the Crimson is the only team in the Ancient Eight with a team ERA below 4.00.
  • Hunter, who won Ivy League Pitcher of the Week honors in back-to-back weeks earlier this season, leads the Ivy League with a 1.65 ERA and ranks third with 55 strikeouts. An All-Ivy League Second Team selection last season, Hunter has tossed three games this year, the most on the team.
  • Grace's 1.75 ERA across 28.0 innings ranks second in the Ancient Eight, as her .245 opposing batting average also ranks second in the conference as well.
  • Harvard is the only school in the Ivy League to have two pitchers with an ERA below 2.00 this year.
R.O.Y FACTORY
  • The last three Ivy League Rookies of the Year are all products of the Crimson, as Harvard is the first school in Ivy League history to produce three consecutive Rookie of the Year honorees.
  • In 2025, sophomore infielder Alexa Muller won Ivy League Rookie of the Year after shining at the plate, especially in conference play.
  • Muller led all first-years last season in the Ancient Eight in batting average (.368) and hits (28). A native of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, Muller ranked third in batting average (.436) and second in on-base percentage (.515) in Ivy League contests last season.
  • The 2024 season saw Sun orchestrate one of the greatest rookie seasons in recent memory, leading all first-years in the NCAA in slugging percentage (.797) and ranked third among all first-years in the nation in batting average (.421).
  • Flynn was the 2023 Ivy League Rookie of the Year after setting a new program record for saves in a season with six, as the Phoenix, Arizona native was the 2023 Ivy League Tournament Most Outstanding Player after tallying 11 innings in all three wins for the Crimson.
  • To start the 2026 campaign, first-years Sheila Forbes and Hannah Ziecik have both earned Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors. Ziecik ranks in the top five on the team with a .306 batting average and 11 RBIs.
HERE COMES THE SUN
  • In her third season with the Crimson, Sun is one of the most explosive offensive talents in the Ivy League.
  • Starting in all 23 games this season at shortstop, Sun leads the Crimson in batting average (.371), OPS (1.073), RBIs (22), total bases (43), slugging percentage (.614) and on-base percentage (.459). Sun's 22 RBIs are tied for second in the Ivy League this year.
  • The first student-athlete in conference history to win Ivy League Player and Rookie of the Year in the same season, Sun ranked in the top five in the Ivy League in batting average (.411), on-base percentage (.469), runs scored (33), hits (53) and total bases (81) during the 2025 season.
  • A 2024 Top 10 Finalist for the Tucci/NFCA Freshman of the Year award, Sun is the current all-time program leader in career batting average (.407) and slugging percentage (.693).
  • Sun ranked No. 98 in D1Softball's D100 Top 100 Mid-Major players, only one of three Ivy League student-athletes to receive the honor to start the season.
IVY LEAGUE EXCELLENCE
  • Over the last five full seasons, Harvard is one of the top softball programs in the Ivy League, owning a league-best 90-36 record in conference play from 2018 to 2025.
  • In that time span, Harvard is the only team in the Ancient Eight to not drop double-digit conference games in a single season.
  • Harvard won back-to-back Ivy League regular season titles in 2023 and 2024, as it won the inaugural Ivy League Tournament in Princeton in 2023.

  • Harvard softball is rolling with a roster that pulls talent from across the nation this season.
  • 11 different states are included on the Crimson's roster this season including Arizona, New Jersey, Hawaii, Washington, California, Missouri, Ohio, Virginia, Texas, Georgia, North Carolina.
