Sailing Named to ICSA Open Team Racing National Championship Field, Receives At-Large Bid to Women’s National Regatta

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Sailing was officially named to the ICSA Open Team Racing National Championship field and received an at-large invitation to the ICSA Women's Team Racing National Championship on Tuesday night. Last season, the Crimson won the open team racing event and came in third at the women's regatta.

The national championships will be hosted by Tulane on Lake Pontchartrain in Louisiana. The open sailors will compete April 23-25, before giving way to the women's regatta April 26-27.

Harvard punched its ticket to the open national championship after it won the NEISA Open Team Racing Championship on April 5, in Cranston, Rhode Island. The Crimson will be in search of its third team-race national championship in four years (2023, 2025; second place in 2024).

Harvard, which won six team-race regattas and finished second in another this past spring, has won the ICSA Open Team Race National Championship four times overall (2022, 2023, 2023, 2025).

The Harvard women's team, meanwhile, heads into the team-racing national championship fresh off a fourth-place performance at the NEISA Women's Team Racing Championship on Upper Mystic Lake. The Crimson finished in the top-5 in six of its seven regattas this spring, winning on two different occasions. The one instance where they did not finish in the top five, they came in sixth place.

Harvard will head to The Pelican State in search of its first team-racing national championship. The Crimson is coming off its two top nationals finishes in program history, finishing in fifth in 2024 and third in 2025.

Prior to the start of the national championships, Harvard compete in four regattas this weekend. The Reed Trophy for the NEISA Women's Fleet Racing Championship and the Coast Guard Alumni Bowl for the NEISA Open Fleet Racing Championship are set for April 18-19, in New London, Connecticut, and Cranston, Rhode Island, respectively. Closer to campus on the Charles River will be the Boston Dinghy Cup Fleet Race on April 18, and the Morris Trophy Fleet Race on April 19.
