CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard men's tennis (13-10, 3-1 Ivy) will hit the road for two crucial matchups against No. 27 Columbia and No. 31 Cornell on Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19 at 1:00 p.m. ET.
The Last Time Out
- With an Ivy League Championship still in reach, the Crimson is peaking at the right time, going 2-0 last weekend against Brown and No. 38 Yale.
- Harvard opened the weekend against the Bears on Friday, winning 4-0 in Providence.
- The Crimson won the doubles point and received three straight-set wins from Rohan Murali, Nathan Blokhin, and Mitchell Lee to sweep Brown.
- Then on Sunday, the Crimson put up an impressive performance against the No. 38 ranked Bulldogs, winning 6-1.
- Harvard won with two 6-2 decisions in doubles and then five singles wins, including four in straight sets.
- Murali delivered another masterclass performance, defeating the No. 29 nationally ranked player, Vignesh Gogineni (Yale) in a three-set battle (6-0, 1-6, 7-5).
Individual Notes
- After a strong weekend, the Crimson moved up six spots in the ITA Division I Men's Team Rankings to No. 41.
- Rohan Murali tallied his fourth ranked win of the dual season this past weekend with his win over No. 29 Vignesh Gogineni (Yale). Each of Murali's ranked wins has come against top 30 players.
- Overall, Murali has a singles record of 20-8 including a 14-5 in the dual season. Since moving to the top singles spot, Murali is 6-2.
- Murali moved up eight spots in the most recent ITA Division I Men's Singles Rankings, checking in at No. 52.
- Murali is also playing at the top doubles spot alongside Kolos Kincses. The two are 19-6 overall and 14-4 in the dual season.
- Kincses has the most doubles wins of any Harvard player this season with a record of 23-8.
- Nathan Blokhin reentered the ITA singles poll last week and moved up to No. 99 in this week's rankings.
- The first-year is 22-7 overall including an impressive 14-3 record in the dual season.
For the Foes
- Columbia – the two-time defending Ivy League Champions – currently sit atop the league standings with a 4-0 record. Overall, the Lions are 14-6 on the year.
- Last weekend, the Lions had a pair of convincing wins over No. 39 Penn and No. 37 Princeton.
- Harvard leads 71-24 all-time against the Lions but they have won the last two meetings.
- The Crimson has a dominant 66-16 all-time record against Cornell including having won the last five matchups.
- The Big Red has been on the rise however and has a 15-3 record this season.
- The two teams sit in a three-way tie with Dartmouth for second at 3-1 in the Ivy League.
- Cornell lost to No. 39 Yale in its opening match but has since rattled off three straight wins against Brown, No. 37 Princeton, and No. 39 Penn.
