Baseball Drops Decision to Dartmouth in Series Opener, 5-3

MEDFORD, Mass. – First-year designated hitter Matthew Witkow contributed two hits, two RBIs, and a double, and first-year right-handed pitcher Davis Kahn allowed just one run over 6.1 innings in the start, but Harvard University baseball dropped a 5-3 decision to Dartmouth College on Friday afternoon at Tufts University's Sol Gittleman Park.

Starting off a stretch of seven straight games in which it will compete as the home team after playing 23 of its first 26 games as the away team, the Crimson (7-20, 5-7 Ivy) held a 3-0 lead through six innings before the Big Green (9-18, 5-8 Ivy) plated the game's final five runs over the last three frames.

Witkow finished 2-for-2 with two RBIs, a double, a run, and a walk, junior second baseman Tyler Shulman posted a 2-for-4 effort with an RBI, and senior Gio Colasante went 2-for-4 with a double and a run to round out the Crimson's three batters with multi-hit games.

In his first career start in Ivy League play, Kahn tossed a career-high 6.1 innings, allowing just one run on eight hits and no walks with three strikeouts.

Officials rescheduled the contest – originally scheduled for Sunday – to Friday due to expected weather conditions and then moved the game to Tufts' artificial turf facility due to field conditions.
