Men’s Golf Competes for Ivy League Championship This Weekend

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard men's golf team will look to capture the program's fifth conference title this weekend when it heads to New Jersey to compete in the annual Ivy League Championship. The event will be played at the historic Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield with the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament up for grabs.

Notes and Storylines

  • Harvard has won four Ivy League Championships in its program history.
  • The last title came in the 2017 season.
  • Four Crimson golfers have been crowned the Ivy League Individual Champion, the last being Theo Lederhausen '14 in 2014.
  • Harvard has finished third in three of the last four Ivy League Championships.
  • Last season, Harvard came in third place at the conference tournament.
  • Ieuan Jones led the way with a second-place finish in a tournament that was shortened by weather. The then first-year, Jones carded back-to-back rounds of 69 (-1) to come in tied for second place after 36 holes.
  • William Ma finished tied for 10th after finishing the tournament four-over-par. His classmate Zhang also competed in the 2025 tournament, coming in T26 with a tournament score of 14-over-par.
  • Jonathan Hartono comes into the tournament with two years of experience at the Ivy Championship. His best result came in the 2024 season, when he finished T8 in the field at two-over-par, carding rounds of 74, 71 and 70 at Watchung Valley GC.
  • This season, Harvard comes into the Ivy Tournament ranked 131 in the Scoreboard rankings.
  • In 17 total rounds, the Crimson has a scoring average of 288.6, the second lowest in the Ivy League behind Yale (286.4).
  • Harvard is coming off its best result of the 2025-26 season at the Princeton Invitational (Apr. 11-12). The Crimson won the tournament title after posting a team tournament score of three-under-par. William Ma (E) and Morgan Riley (+1) finished the tournament T2 and T4, respectively.
  • The duo of Riley and Ma also made waves at the tournament by recording hole-in-ones in the second and third rounds, respectively. They are the first hole-in-ones for the team in competition since at least 2011.
  • As a team this season, Harvard has posted a first place, second place and fourth-place finish in six tournaments.
  • Individually, Harvard has five golfers with a scoring average of 73.5 or lower, with all five of those athletes ranking inside the Ivy League top 13.
