PHILADELPHIA -- The Harvard men's heavyweight rowing team won the first, second and third varsity races over Penn and Navy on the Schuylkill River on Saturday and retained the Adams Cup with the win by the varsity. Conditions featured variable wins throughout the morning with a cross wind of 10-13 mph.
The varsity race was moved up to 9:15 a.m.; the second race of the day for the Harvard boats. Led by coxswain Natalia Tomas and stroke
Ben Scott, HUBC won by more than three seconds over Penn in a time of 5:32.3. The varsity win marked the 61st win for Harvard in the Adams Cup, which has been contested 89 times since 1928. HUBC has won every race completed since 2001.
The 2V boat was led by coxswain
Iris Hennin and stroke
Tyler Horler to a commanding 10-second win at 5:35.6. The final HUBC win of the morning went to the 3V boat with coxswain
Cate Frerichs and stroke
Marco Vicino, which crossed in a time of 5:40.2; a three-second margin.
