CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Sailing was officially announced as the 2026 recipient of the Leonard M. Fowle Trophy on Tuesday. The trophy is presented to the best all-around college sailing team based on points at national championship events during the academic year.
The Crimson, which had not won the Fowle Trophy since 2005, was outstanding all season long at both the national open and women's regattas. Fowle Trophy points were up for grabs at the Women's Singlehanded, Men's Singlehanded, Match Race, Women's Fleet Race Semifinals/Finals, Team Race, and Open Fleet Race Semifinals/Final Championship Regattas.
Harvard began the points-earning season with
Robby Meek winning the open singlehanded national title and
Sophia Montgomery and
Kate Danielson finishing in third and ninth place, respectively, at the women's event. The Crimson then went on to win the match race national championship the next week.
Following a full slate of spring regattas, Harvard won the open team race national crown, while its women came in fourth place. When the discipline changed to fleet racing, the Crimson women took second in the semifinals, while the open side finished in first. Then in the finals, the Harvard women registered a third-place performance, and the coed team placed seventh to secure the Fowle Trophy.
The Crimson is now the proud owner of six Fowle Trophies, with the previous five coming in succession from 2001-05.
