TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras – The Harvard men's basketball quartet of
Ben Eisendrath,
Dutch Dowdell,
Joseph Quartey and
Ryan Sullivan completed their run at the FISU 3x3 Americas Cup with a sixth-place finish in the tournament. The Crimson unit advanced to the quarterfinals of the event before losing a close game in the round of eight.
Eisendrath lit up the scoreboard in Honduras, leading the team with 39 points over four games to average 9.8 ppg in the tournament. Dowdell chipped in with 14 points (3.5 ppg) while Quartey and Sullivan contributed seven and six points, respectively.
The team started strong on day one, winning its first two pool games to advance to the quarterfinal round. Eisendrath and Dowdell combined for 17 points in the opening game against TEC to give the squad a 21-14 win. The team then went toe-to-toe with the University of Chile in a tightly contested matchup that saw Harvard squeeze out a 17-16 win. Eisendrath was in double figures once again with 12 points while Quartey and Dowdell each posted two points to help Harvard seal the win and its spot in the quarterfinal knockout round.
Harvard's chase for championship came to an end in the quarterfinal against Mexico's UANQ, who knocked off the Crimson in a close 21-17 matchup. Eisendrath dropped a game-high 16 points to lead the team, while Sullivan contributed a bucket to aid the Crimson effort.
The team faced off with Bishop's University of Canada in the fifth-place game on Thursday in the final matchup of the tournament for the Crimson. The Canadian team earned the 21-11 win, which put Harvard in sixth-place overall in the tournament. Dowdell's six points led the team and was followed up by two points from both Quartey and Sullivan.
