CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Men's Basketball is set to play at Duke University on December 4, 2026 at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, North Carolina as part of the Blue Devils' Brotherhood Run series, which features Duke alumni who serve as current head coaches at fellow Division I member schools.
As part of the contest, the Blue Devils will honor
Tommy Amaker, The Thomas G. Stemberg '71 Family Endowed Coach for Harvard Men's Basketball, who played at Duke from 1983-87. A four-year starter at point guard for the Blue Devils, Amaker helped lead the team to the 1986 NCAA title game before earning All-America honors and recognition as the nation's top defensive player in his senior year of 1987. Amaker started all 138 career games at Duke, setting an ACC record.
"Our entire program is grateful to Duke Basketball for making this opportunity possible through the Brotherhood Run series," Amaker said. "It will certainly be a meaningful moment for me to return to Cameron Indoor Stadium – a place that is filled with so many special memories for me as a player and coach. I know our team will embrace competing in such a high-level environment against such a storied program."
Before beginning his head coaching career, Amaker won two NCAA championships and advanced to five Final Fours as an assistant and associate head coach at Duke.

"Tommy is one of the people who helped shape Duke Basketball into what it is today, first as an incredible player and then as a coach. I have so much respect for the way he's led throughout his career and for everything he's built at Harvard. The opportunity to compete against someone who embodies The Brotherhood is unbelievable for our players. It's part of the history and tradition that makes this program so special."
At Harvard, Amaker has built the Crimson into a perennial Ivy League contender with a national presence. He has directed Harvard to a period of unprecedented success in the form of seven Ivy League championships (2011-15, 2018-19), four NCAA tournament appearances (2012-15) and seven 20-win seasons (2010-15, 2020). Amaker became the Crimson's all-time winningest coach during the 2016-17 season and earned his 300
th win at Harvard during the 2024-25 season.
He has totaled 497 career wins as a head coach, including 321 wins at Harvard, 108 wins at Michigan (2001-07), and 86 wins at Seton Hall (1997-2001).
Harvard and Duke have met 10 times in men's basketball with the Blue Devils holding a 10-0 lead in the all-time series with the last meeting between the two teams coming on November 30, 1991. The Crimson and Blue Devils met in nine straight seasons across the 1983-84 to 1991-92 campaigns.
Past iterations of Brotherhood Run have included Duke hosting Howard and head coach
Kenny Blakeney as well as Niagara and head coach Greg Paulus during the 2025-26 season. In a pair of exhibition contests, the Blue Devils have also hosted Arizona State and head coach Danny Hurley as well as UCF and head coach Johnny Dawkins.
