CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Harvard, after starting the season in the win column on the road against UNH, begins its Ivy League campaign against the Brown Bears. The Crimson travel to Providence Friday evening (7:00 PM, ESPN2) looking to continue its winning ways. Brown, meanwhile, opened its season last week with a win after defeating NEC opponent, New Haven, 17-10. The Ivy League clash will take place at Centreville Bank Stadium in Pawtucket, marking the first in series history the Ancient Eight foes will compete off-campus.

• No. 25/21 Harvard (coaches/media) continues its two-game road stretch to open 2026 on Friday when it faces Brown at Centreville Bank Stadium in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The Ivy League lidlifter for both teams is set for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff with ESPN2 providing broadcast coverage.
• The Crimson turns its attention to Brown after a 31-7 road win at 2025 NCAA FCS Playoff participant New Hampshire last Saturday. Harvard scored two touchdowns in the final 53 seconds of the first half -- and 35 seconds apart -- to turn a 7-7 game into a 21-7 advantage going into halftime. The Crimson ended up holding the Wildcats scoreless for the final 36:43, just a week after UNH scored 42 points in a win over Stonehill.
• Harvard's first three touchdowns at UNH were scored by first-year players. Quarterback Kise Flannery found paydirt from one yard out, with wide receiver Nate Bailey providing the aforementioned late-first-half TDs. Bailey scored on a 23-yard reverse before catching a 13-yard dart from sophomore Charlie Smith, who made his first collegiate start at QB. Senior captain Xaviah Bascon provided the Crimson's final TD on a one-yard rush with 8:48 to play in the fourth quarter.
• First-years Flannery and Bailey each scored a touchdown against the Wildcats to become the first duo of first-year players to score in the same game for Harvard since 2009 when Treavor Scales '12 and Kyle Juszczyk '12 accomplished the feat in a game against Columbia (and Dartmouth the week prior). Additionally, Bailey and Flannery became the only pair of Harvard first-years to score touchdowns in their collegiate debuts in program history. Harvard operated a separate First-year only program until the 1993 season. 
• As much as the first-years were the talk of the offense, Harvard's upperclassmen held down the fort on defense. Senior Sean Line, who was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week, finished with game highs in tackles (10), sacks (career-high 2.0), tackles for loss (career-high 3.5) and forced fumbles (career-high 1). Line's 10 stops marked his fourth straight game with double-figure totals, dating to last year. Seniors Josh Fedd (career-high 2.0 sacks) and Jack Donahoe (7 tackles) also produced impressive numbers. Junior Dorsey Benefield and sophomore Ethan Carson added eight stops apiece.
• The Harvard defense held the Wildcats to just 49 yards rushing after it gained 153 yards on the ground the week prior. It also picked off a pair of passes, which matched New Hampshire's total for the season entering the game. In addition to the two interceptions, the Crimson defense tallied 7.0 sacks (two shy of matching school record), 11.0 tackles for loss (most since 14.0 vs. Merrimack on Sept. 16, 2022), six pass breakups and four quarterback hurries.
• After the Crimson's win at New Hampshire, Harvard moved up four spots to No. 21 in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll and made its debut in the AFCA Coaches Poll, entering at No. 25. This marks the earliest the Crimson has been ranked in both polls in recorded history, with program data going back to the start of 2011 campaign. The previous team record occurred in 2015 and 2016, when Harvard was ranked in both polls heading into its Week 3 game (2015 – 25/24, 2016 – 19/25; rankings indicate coaches/media). The Crimson has also been ranked in four straight seasons, a first for the team since it held a national ranking in at least six consecutive seasons (2011-16).
• Harvard's game at Centreville Bank Stadium will be the first of two games this season held at non-football venues, with the other set for Nov. 21 and Fenway Park (vs. Yale). Centreville Bank Stadium is the home to Rhode Island FC, a USL Championship soccer team. The last time the Crimson played at a non-football venue, it emerged with a 38-28 win over No. 5/6 Holy Cross at Polar Park, home of the Boston Red Sox Triple-A affiliate, Worcester Woo Sox. Prior to that, Harvard defeated Yale at Fenway Park in 2018, 45-27.
• When the Crimson opened last week on the road, it marked the second straight year it had done so, with the last time occurring in 1989 and 1990, both at Columbia. Now, with its game at Brown, the Crimson will be playing its first two games of the season away from home for the first time since 1998 (at Columbia, at Colgate). 
• Harvard is looking to move to 2-0 for the second straight season and for the fifth time in the last six seasons. The lone hiccup came in Andrew Aurich's first season (2024) and occurred at Brown, 31-28. The Crimson hold a 25-10 (.625) conference record since 2021, and a 9-1 record against the Bears since 2015.
• Harvard has been one of the best road teams in the FCS the last two-decades-plus. Since 1996, the Crimson is 97-40 on the road (.708) and has won eight straight regular-season non-conference road contests.
• Harvard is 26-6 (.813) over the last four seasons (8-2 in 2023, 8-2 in 2024, 9-2 in 2025, 1-0 in 2026). The Crimson is first in the FCS for fewest losses during this time period, with Montana State following behind with seven Ls. 
• Harvard looks to continue their winning tradition on Friday nights. The Crimson are 10-0 in their last 10 Friday night games, dating back to 2018. Two of those games include previous matchups against the Bears (49-17 in 2021 and 42-7 in 2019).
