CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Football's Xaden Benson has been named the recipient of this week's New England Football Writers Association Gold Helmet Award, presented by the Jack Grinold/Eastern Massachusetts Chapter of the National Football Foundation.
 
Benson was responsible for four turnovers in the Crimson's 14-10 win at Brown. Benson had three interceptions to halt Brown drives and recovered a muffed punt to go along with four tackles in the Ivy opener for both teams. Benson's third pick stopped the final Brown drive and allowed Harvard to run out the clock.
 
A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Benson on Friday became one of eight student-athletes in school history to record three interceptions in a single game and tied the program record in the process. His three-pick performance also made him the first Crimson player since Ryan Barnes '10 to record three interceptions in game (2008 vs. Penn).
 
Benson, who is tied for the national lead with four interceptions on the season, and his Harvard teammates are now preparing to play host to Colgate on Saturday at Harvard Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. ET. Season and single-game tickets are available at GoCrimson.com.
