Overall, he stands in his sixth season with the program in 2025-26.

Doherty helped guide Robert Hinton ’28 to Ivy League Rookie of the Year honors during the 2024-25 season, marking the second straight year in which the Crimson captured the conference’s rookie of the year award. Harvard closed the year with a 5-2 mark in the second half of Ivy League play, finishing the year with a 7-7 Ivy record, standing as its best conference mark since 2019-20. Evan Nelson ’25 also gained a spot on the inaugural Allstate NACDA Winter Good Works Team.

Harvard posted a 14-13 overall record in 2023-24, standing as the 14th time in the last 15 competitive seasons that the Crimson notched a record of .500 or better. Doherty helped Malik Mack ’27 to Ivy League Rookie of the Year honors. Prior to the academic year, the Crimson took part in a comprehensive experience during a foreign tour of Canada in August 2023.

During the 2022-23 year, Doherty served as the Director of Basketball Operations for UNLTD Sports Group, a premium boutique sports management, representation and marketing firm focused on empowerment, brand building, and enterprise development for the modern athlete.

Prior to UNLTD, Doherty served on Dan Hurley’s staff for five seasons as the Director of Scouting and Video Operations and Director of Recruiting at the University of Connecticut from 2018-22 after acting as the Video Coordinator at the University of Rhode Island during the 2017-18 season.

At UConn, Doherty oversaw film production for the team, recruiting, film exchange with opponents, and breakdown of film for scouting opponents as well as evaluation of the Huskies. He worked closely with the coaching staff and the director of operations to plan day-to-day practice sessions and maintain a recruiting database.

With the Huskies, he helped the program make back-to-back appearances in the NCAA tournament in 2021 and 2022 after helping the Rams reach the round of 32 at the NCAA tournament and win the Atlantic 10 regular season title in 2018.

In his first stint with Harvard from 2014-17, Doherty served as a Volunteer Administrative Assistant for the program from 2014-16 and then as the program’s Video Coordinator during the 2016-17 season. As the video coordinator, Doherty held responsibilities around practice and game video operations and opponent film exchange. He also worked in concert with the coaching staff to fulfill aspects of recruiting organization. Doherty helped the Crimson win the Ivy League title and make an NCAA tournament appearance in 2015.

A native of Andover, Massachusetts, Doherty earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Fairfield University in 2014, serving as a student operations assistant with the Stags men’s basketball program from 2012-14.
