Named Ivy League Rookie of the Week
The Game:
Harvard, which owns a 7-1 record, is off to the program's
best start since the 1996 season when the Crimson opened the year
16-1.

Last Time Out:
The team is coming off a dramatic, 1-0, double overtime victory at
archrival Yale Saturday. Brian Rogers netted the game's only
goal against the Bulldogs, as he found the back of the net for the
golden goal at 102:53. Austin Harms earned his fourth shutout of
the season in the victory.
The Matchup:
Today's game marks the 13th contest in the series between
Harvard and Holy Cross. The Crimson owns a 9-1-2 series record and
has a 2-0-1 mark in the last three games between the two
Massachusetts schools. Last year on Oct. 21, 2008, Harvard picked
up a 3-0 shutout at Holy Cross. Harms made one save for the blank
sheet, while Andre Akpan had two goals and an asisst, while Michael
Fucito '09 chipped in with a goal.
About Harvard:
The Crimson, which owns a 3-0 record at Ohiri Field this fall, is
riding a nine-game win streak at home, dating back to last season.
Harvard it outscoring opponents by a wide margin this season, 17-3,
and has earned 46 corner kicks, compared to 33 by its
opponents.
Andre Akpan (six goals, five assists) and Brian Rogers (five
goals, three assists) are first and second on the team in scoring
with 17 and 13 points, respectively. Desmond Mitchell (two goals,
two assists) and Jamie Rees (two goals) have also netted multiple
goals this season. Rogers paces the team with three game-winning
tallies.
In goal, Austin Harms has allowed only three goals in eight games
and owns a 7-1-0 record. He has earned four clean sheets and sports
a 0.38 goals-against average, as well as a save percentage of
.880.
About Holy Cross:
The Crusaders are riding a two-game win streak into the contest
against the Crimson. Holy Cross has been outscored, 9-6, this fall,
including 2-0 in overtime.
Shane Regan leads the team with two goals and four points and has
tallied two of the team's three game-winning goals. Jon Werth
netted Holy Cross's other game-winning tally. Between the
pipes, Thomas Booth stands at 3-6 with two shutouts, a 0.96
goals-against average and a save percentage of .820.
Golden Goal:
With only 7:07 remaining in double overtime at archrival Yale
Saturday evening, Brian Rogers lifted Harvard to a 1-0 victory with
a golden goal, the first overtime tally of his career. Rogers was
named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week for the second time this
season for his effort against Yale.
Defense Wins Games:
Harvard has allowed only three goals this season. The team is
sporting a 0.38 goals-against average and has surrendered only one
tally in the first half of games.
Up Next:
The Crimson returns to Ivy League play at Cornell Saturday. The
team will then visit Connecticut in a key non-conference matchup
Tuesday, Oct. 14 before hosting Brown Saturday, Oct. 17.
