straight games at Lavietes Pavilion.

Home Sweet Home
The Crimson is 3-0 on its home court this season. Harvard has had
the scoring touch at Lavietes Pavilion averaging 76.0 points per
game at home this season.
Last Time Out
Four Crimson players scored in double figures and Emma Markley
recorded her first double-double of the season as the Harvard
women's basketball team rolled over Holy Cross, 74-57,
Wednesday night at the Lavietes Pavilion.
Markley scored a game-high 18 points on an 8-for-16 effort and
pulled down a career-high 15 rebounds. Sophomore Brogan Berry went
5-for-7 from the field and 6-for-6 from the free throw line for 16
points and handed out seven assists. Freshman Victoria Lippert
added 13 and Christine Matera had 12, all from beyond the arc.
The Crimson ran out to a 19-0 lead to start the first half,
holding the Crusaders scoreless for the first six minutes of the
game. Harvard lead by as many as 23 in the first 20 minutes, but
saw its 39-25 halftime lead shrink to three six minutes into the
second session. The Crimson quickly turned it around pulling away
to a double-digit lead with eight minutes to play.
Block That Shot
Junior Emma Markley has 16 blocks this season for an average of
2.3 per game. She set a Colorado Tournament record for blocks in a
game with six against New Orleans (Nov. 27), while Harvard's
10 blocks against the Privateers was also a tournament record.
Scouting the Terriers
After beginning the season with two straight losses, Boston
University has won three of its last four, including two straight.
The Terriers defeated Brown, 87-58, Wednesday night in
Providence.
Led by Alex Young, three Terriers average double figures. Young
has 14.3 points per game, while Caitlyn Moran and Kristen Sims
average 14.0 and 10.5 ppg., respectively. Moran leads the team in
assists (3.3 per game) and steals (2.0 per game). Aly Hinton and
Caroline Stewart lead the team in rebounds with 6.3 per game.
Boston University is averaging 68.5 ppg., while its opponents are
outscoring them with an average of 70.3 ppg. The Terriers are also
getting outrebounded, 44.0-38.3 rebounds per game.
Last Meeting
Jesyka Burks-Wiley scored 21 for BU, while four other Terriers
scored 10 or more to lead Boston University to an 80-61 victory
over Harvard on Dec. 9, 2008.
Emma Markley led the Crimson with 12 points and eight
rebounds.
The Series
Boston University leads the series, 13-11, and has won four of the
last five meetings. Harvard snapped a three-game losing skid
against the Terriers in the last match up at Lavietes Pavilion on
Dec. 11, 2007.
The crosstown rivals have met every year since 1992. The series
started in 1976 and the teams played from 1979-81 and then again in
'86, '87.
Double-Doubles
Junior Emma Markley recorded her first double-double of the season
and ninth of her career against Holy Cross. She scored 18 points
and pulled down a career-best 15 rebounds. She has six
double-doubles as a sophomore and two as a rookie.
Help Me, Help You
Sophomore Brogan Berry has 47 assists this season, averaging 6.7
per game. She has handed out nine, three times so far.
Among the Best
Entering this week, Emma Markley ranked 24th in the nation in
blocks (2.3 per game). Brogan Berry ranked 13th in the nation in
assists (6.7 per game) and 28th in assist/turnover ratio
(2.67).
League Leaders (as of Dec. 3)
Claire Wheeler leads the league in free throw percentage, shooting
93.3 percent from the charity stripe. The junior captain is
15-of-16 from the line. Emma Markley paces the league in blocked
shots with 2.3 per game, while Brogan Berry leads the league in
assist/turnover ratio (2.6)
The Offense
Harvard is second in the Ivy League in scoring offense with 70.7
points per game. The Crimson leads the Ancient Eight in free throw
percentage (.770) and blocked shots (4.6 per game).
Scoring Threats
Harvard has three players who average 10.0 points per game or
more. Emma Markley leads the team with 16.0 ppg, followed by
Victoria Lippert with 13.7 ppg. and Brogan Berry with 11.1ppg.
Random Number 28
Harvard has scored exactly 28 field goals in its three home games
this season. The Crimson has totaled 82, 74 and 72 points in its
first three home games.
Bay State Ballers
Five teams from Massachusetts dot the Crimson this season. Harvard
played Boston College, to open the season and will face Boston
University, Holy Cross, Massachusetts and Northeastern later this
season.
On the Bench
Kathy Delaney-Smith, the winningest coach in program history, is
in her 28th season on the bench for the Crimson. Delaney-Smith, who
has led the Crimson to 11 Ivy League titles, recorded her 400th
career victory with a 68-47 win over Brown on March 7, 2008. She
sports a 423-302 record seven games into her 28th season.
Assistant Coach Bri Fecteau is back for her seventh season, while
Kelly Finley returns for her second. She served as a volunteer
assistant in 2008-09. Todd Earl, another Colorado State graduate,
joins the staff as a volunteer coach this season.
