Women's Swimming and Diving Schedule
CAMBRIDGE,
Mass.-Four home meets, including the Ivy
League Championships and an early-season, multi-team invitational,
highlight the 2009-10 Harvard women's swimming and diving schedule.
The Crimson will host the Harvard Invitational Nov. 20-22,
welcoming Rutgers, Columbia, Sacred Heart and Wagner to Blodgett
Pool in Harvard's first home action of the season. The Crimson will
close its home schedule by trying to defend its league title at the
2010 Ivy League Championships Feb. 25-27.
In between, Harvard will host home dual meets against Ivy foe
Brown (Jan. 23) and local rival Northeastern (Feb. 12). Those
events are among five head-to-head meets on the schedule. The
Crimson pays a season-opening visit to Cornell for its annual clash
with the host Big Red and the Big Green of Dartmouth Nov. 14.
Harvard visits Penn Jan. 9 and heads to Princeton for the annual
HYP meet against the Tigers and Yale Jan. 30-31.
Harvard also has an ECAC title to defend at the ECAC
Championships Feb. 26-28 in Pittsburgh. Throughout the season, the
Crimson will aim to continue its annual tradition of qualifying
athletes for the NCAA Championships, to be held this season at
Purdue, in West Lafayette, Ind., March 18-20.
In addition to their dual-meet duties, the Crimson's divers will
compete in an invitational meet at Princeton Jan. 8-9 and the NCAA
Zone A Diving Championships March 12-14 at Rutgers. They will go on
a training trip to Hawaii Jan. 12-20, while the Harvard swimmers
will visit Barbados for their annual training trip Jan. 13-19.
The Crimson is coming off a season of unprecedented success.
After posting a 6-1 dual record, Harvard finished the season ranked
25th in the nation and won the Ivy and ECAC crowns. The Crimson set
school records in 11 events, won six Ivy event championships and
sent two swimmers to the NCAA Championships.
