The Game:
Harvard, which is riding a three-game win streak to start the
season, hosts Army in a non-conference matchup, as the Crimson
looks to improve on its best start since 2007.
Jamie Clark, the Virginia B. and James O. Welch '52 Head Coach
for Harvard Men's Soccer, and his team are coming off a 1-0
victory over No. 14 Boston University Friday, the first win for the
Crimson over a ranked opponent this season. Jamie Rees scored the
game-winner at 43:53 and Austin Harms made three saves in net in
the game held at Ohiri Field.

The Matchup:
Today's game marks the first contest between Harvard and
Army since the 1968 season. The Crimson leads the all-time series,
8-4-2, dating back to the first meeting between the schools in
1927. The 1968 matchup occurred in the first round of the NCAA
tournament and resulted in a 4-1 win for Army.
About Harvard:
The Crimson is riding an eight-game win streak at home, dating
back to last season. Harvard is 2-0 at Ohiri Field this fall after
topping Stony Brook, 4-1, in the opener and holding off Boston
University, 1-0, Friday. The team is outscoring opponents by a 7-1
margin and has not allowed a goal in 242:25 minutes of play.
Andre Akpan, the reigning Ivy League Player of the Week, paces the
squad with seven points on two goals and three assists. He is tied
for the team lead in goals with Jamie Rees. Freshmen Brian Rogers
(one goal, two assists) and Scott Prozeller (one goal, one assist),
who was selected to the Ivy League honor roll last week, have also
supplied offense. Desmond Mitchell also has a goal, scoring in the
second half against Stony Brook.
In goal, Austin Harms is 3-0-0 with two shutouts, giving him eight
blank sheets for his career. Harms has surrendered only a single
goal this year and owns a 0.34 goals-against average and a .917
save percentage.
Opponents are outshooting Harvard, 50-45, but the Crimson leads in
corner kick chances, 15-12.
About Army:
The Black Knights are 1-3 on the season after losing at Bryant,
3-0, Friday. Army won its season opener against NJIT, 2-1, but has
since lost three straight, including games to Manhattan, 1-0, and
Marist, 1-0.
Bryan Connolly and Tanner Robertson each have a goal on the
season, while Cole Dietz and Michael Leach have handed out an
assist apiece. Nick Alexander has played all four games in net and
has made 17 saves, while allowing six goals by opponents.
Hot Streak:
Jamie Rees has scored a goal in two straight-games, the first two
goals of his career. Brian Rogers is on a three-game point scoring
streak, as he tallied a goal against Stony Brook and handed assists
out at Boston College and against Boston University.
Defense Wins Games:
Harvard has allowed only a single goal this year, back in the
first half in the season opener against Stony Brook. The stretch
has reached 242:25 minutes of action.
Up Next:
The Crimson has six days off before traveling to Fairfield
Saturday, Sept. 19. The contest against the Stags marks the first
of a four-game road trip for Harvard. The team will also visit New
Hampshire Sept. 23, Wake Forest Sept. 26 and Yale Oct.3 during this
stretch.
