Millet recorded four saves in her first game since Sept. 12

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Alexandra
Millet made four saves in her return in net, and Alexandra
Conigliaro scored a goal in the first half, but the Harvard
women' s soccer team dropped a road contest at Ivy League rival
Brown, 2-1, Saturday afternoon. Katherine
Sheeleigh assisted on Conigliaro's goal and now ranks sixth in
program history with 69 points (27 goals, 15 assists).
The loss drops Harvard's Ivy record to 2-2, while the
Crimson falls to 5-5-1 overall. Brown improves to 7-4-3 and 1-2-1
in conference action.
Harvard had the game's first three shots on net, as chances by
Melanie
Baskind and Sheeleigh were stopped by Brown's Amber Bledsoe in
the opening minutes. At 27:05, the Crimson broke a scoreless
tie when Sheeleigh placed a cross pass to the far post and
Conigliaro one-timed the volley into the far corner of the net,
making it 1-0 in favor of Harvard. With seven minutes
remaining in the first, the Bears knotted the game on a score by
Diana Ohrt at 37:55. Off a corner kick by Louisa Pitney, Ohrt
took a shot on goal and it was deflected into the cage.
In the second, Brown's M.C. Barrett, who replaced Bledsoe in net,
stopped a chance by Baskind in the 50th minute to keep the game
tied, 1-1. At 77:12, Barrett made consecutive saves on shots
by Sheeleigh and Aisha
Price, before Brown was able to clear the ball. With 6:43
remaining in regulation, Allison Kagawa made a short throw on the
left side, allowing Mika Siegelman to control the ball and send a
high cross to the far post. Pitney headed the cross into the
back of the net, putting Brown ahead, 2-1. The Crimson
managed two more shots in the final minutes, but Barrett turned
aside a chance by Kerry Kartsonis
and a kick by Sheeleigh was blocked in front.
The Crimson outshot the Bears, 14-13, while Brown had the edge in
corner kicks, 5-4. Barrett made four saves in the second half
for Brown to hold on for the win.
Up next, the Crimson will play a road game at Siena Tuesday,
Oct. 25 at 3 p.m.
