CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Alex Meyer '10
of the Harvard men's swimming team is set to compete in the
Sixth Annual FINA World Open Water Swimming Championships later
this week. The event began July 15 and runs through the 23rd, with
Meyer slated to compete in the 25k event on the 22nd.
Meyer will travel to Roberval, Quebec, Canada to compete in the
Championships that feature races for both men and women in 5k, 10k
and 25k distances. So far this summer, Meyer has competed in a
number of open water events, highlighted by a pair of fourth-place
finishes in the 5k and 10k at the U.S. National Open Water Swimming
Championships in Long Beach, Calif. Because of his strong results
at the national championship event, Meyer was invited to represent
the United States at the world championships in the 25k.
